Robert and Elta Winstead purchased the home in 1960. In 1975, the final addition was completed. This two-story addition included modern bathroom facilities and central heat. In 2001, Robert and Elta's son, Dale, did a complete restoration, and the home was converted to a Bed and Breakfast. |
Sleepy Creek Mountain Inn was built as a log frontier home by a settler and his family. The original part of the home was built in early 1800. An addition was completed in approximately 1809 to accommodate the growing frontier family.

The inn takes guests back to a
simpler time before the Civil War. Settlers were self-sufficient,
farmed the land, and raised cattle. The simplicity of rural West
Virginia is reflected in the modest beginnings of this farming
community. |
The inn provides warm surroundings
where guests can settle back and let their imagination take them
away. It will be a warm, inviting experience guests will want to
experience again and again. |
 |
The rolling hills, streams, and wildlife on this 120-acre farm provide relaxation. While here, soak up the surrounding beauty of Sleepy Creek Mountain and observe wildlife at play in their natural habitat. |
 |
The inn offers central heat and air condition and furnished with period antiques and reproductions. Every effort has been made to keep the simplicity of the home, allowing guests to get lost in the warm atmosphere of the inn and the countryside. |
Each of the guest rooms is decorated in a country theme, the rooms with private 2 person whirlpool baths have Queen size beds. The other rooms provide private baths and double beds. Two rooms have fireplaces with gas logs and a two-person whirlpool tub surrounded by mirrors, other rooms have electric fireplaces.
|
The community rooms are for all our guests to enjoy. These rooms are the dining room, the modern kitchen and family room and the newly remodeled activity room which invites you to play games or just enjoy the beautiful view and observe the wildlife and horses or visit with the inn keeper or fellow guests during your stay. |
 |
The inn has central heat and air for your
comfort, with modern facilities, while maintaining the integrity of
a frontier log home. The front porch is a favorite gathering place
for guests to watch the evening sunsets and watch the horses and
catch a glimpse of the many deer and turkey roaming over the
farmland. |
