Robert and Elta Winstead purchased the home in 1960. In 1975, the final addition was completed. This two-story addition included modern bathroom facilities and central heat. In 2001, Robert and Elta's son, Dale, did a complete restoration, and the home was converted to a Bed and Breakfast.

Sleepy Creek Mountain Inn was built as a log frontier home by a settler and his family. The original part of the home was built in early 1800. An addition was completed in approximately 1809 to accommodate the growing frontier family.

The inn takes guests back to a simpler time before the Civil War. Settlers were self-sufficient, farmed the land, and raised cattle. The simplicity of rural West Virginia is reflected in the modest beginnings of this farming community.

The inn provides warm surroundings where guests can settle back and let their imagination take them away. It will be a warm, inviting experience guests will want to experience again and again.
